How You’ll Spend Your Time Aboard an AmaWaterways River Cruise
The natural desire to connect with people and nature in the world around us is at the heart of the travel industry. Amid current uncertainties, this passion remains as high as ever and AmaWaterways cruises knows that you, along with your trusted travel advisors, are at home imagining and making preparations for your next precious holiday experiences – and what better way to explore the world than by sailing its rivers?
The river cruise ships of AmaWaterways welcome between 102 and 196 guests – much like luxury boutique hotels – and sail on national waters docking in close vicinity to historic sites, quaint village markets, iconic wine cellars and convenient access to medical services if required. When AmaWaterways cruises resumes their river sailings, rest easy knowing they will take all precautionary measures as advised by the health authorities, as well as strengthen their regular, very high hygiene standards on board. They already are closely working with their travel consultant partners here and providers in the international destinations they are sailing to to help ensure that all their guest and staff screenings, onboard sanitation procedures and onshore excursions are carried out in strict accordance with the most up-to-date suggested protocols.
But before we can sail again, get a preview of what a typical day on your river cruise will look like. All cruises on AmaWaterways offer the amenities below for you to take full advantage of throughout the day.
Amawaterways Fitness Center & Classes
Each AmaWaterways ship has a fitness center to help you keep active between excursions and tours. And if your preference isn’t the treadmill, there’s also a qualified professional Wellness Host offering daily classes. Start your day with a Sun Deck yoga session, a spin class at the ship’s rear, or a light stretch class, and set the stage for a relaxing day.
Every morning you will enjoy coffee and breakfast buffet, light lunches and refreshments during the day, and delicious dinners prepared with local ingredients. We recommend booking specialty restaurant The Chef’s Table for at least one evening. Each meal offers unlimited wine, beer, and soft drinks. The AmaWaterways cruise line is especially known for its fantastic on-board meals.
Salon & Spa
No river cruise holiday is complete without a little indulgence. The on-board spa offers massages throughout the day so you can take it easy on your own timeline. With fewer guests on board, you won’t have to fight for a slot. Feel like going out for the night while we ‘re in harbour? Let the salon’s stylists give you a fresh look, or perhaps just help you look and feel your best before heading out.
You may not choose a tropical cruise, but that doesn’t mean you can’t relax on the top deck and enjoy the sun! Both ships have either a heated swimming pool (some with a swim-up bar for maximum enjoyment) or a jacuzzi, ideal to relax those sore muscles when cruising through Europe’s elegant, castle-filled countryside. When the sun goes down, feel free to come out again. The views of bridges full of lights or cathedrals lit up under the stars are incredible as you cruise past bigger cities.
Whichever cruise itinerary you choose, there’ll be a variety of excursions to choose from. The activity level varies to fit your preference for the day, and bicycles are available on the ship for you to take into town. You may prefer a mild hike at some stops; wine sampling on others, or a tour of a Kölsch brew pub. Instead, you might want to take some time off and explore the area. Some of our clients’ best memories are taking a stroll through the cobblestone streets of obscure cities, feeling out the local culture.
Best in Class Service
The only thing better than AmaWaterways river cruise dining is their service. The team is genuinely proud to develop relationships with each guest and create a family-like atmosphere for your trip.
