It was mid-March and I was on the hunt for food, perched along the Grand Parade in Cork City, near the River Lee — one of many urban rivers that punctuate Ireland’s major cities. But I’m not paying much attention to the water. I’m waiting on people — several thousand of them — to flow past in the St. Patrick’s Day parade, full of bright costumes, music and movement. (more…)
