We spoke with the General Manager of Beaches Turks and Caicos, Lucky S. Kalhon, to get the inside scoop on the resort. Read on for Lucky’s tips on how to make your next vacation to Beaches extra spectacular!

How long have you been working at Beaches Turks and Caicos?

Lucky: Almost five years. It’s been a very rewarding experience, and I can’t complain — my middle name is “Lucky”!

What do you like most about your job?

Lucky: I add value to people’s lives, both for our guests and our talent. We hold courses to help our team members learn English. In the community we sponsor two schools, making sure any books that are needed are provided.

And in partnership with the Sandals Foundation, we offer reading road trips, where guests bring school supplies and children’s books, and we drive them to the schools so that our guests can read to the children there.

Why does Beaches Turks and Caicos make a great vacation destination for families?

Lucky: We’ve got something for everyone. This is truly a multi-generational family destination. Recently, Trip Advisor named Turks and Caicos the best island in the world to visit, and we’ve also been voted top beach in the world. Besides the scenery, what keeps you here is what the Beaches resort really offers: four distinct villages that can cater to couples (in the month of May we had 149 weddings) as well as families. Our four-bedroom units can even accommodate up to 12 family members!

We’ve also got kids camps that accommodate infants though teenagers, and all of our nannies are certified by the International Nanny Association. Our nannies can watch kids from 8:30 am to 10 o’ clock at night, so parents can have fun alone together. Meanwhile, kids can play with Sesame Street characters, bake with Cookie Monster, and take a “choo choo train” that rides through the villages to bring them to a restaurant for a kids-only lunch.

We’ve got something for the teens and tweens, too. Our 4,500-square-foot water park is extremely popular, along with our basketball and volleyball courts, and our teen and tween clubs like the Xbox Lounge. For the adults, we have a gorgeous, adults-only swimming pool, two adults-only restaurants, and two full spas (we can even come to your suite for a private massage!). And the best part is that the entire family can meet back up later to share about their days. In the evening, we can set up for the whole family to have a nice, private dinner down by the beach, served by our butlers.

Do you have a favorite restaurant at the resort?

Lucky: I go from one restaurant to another all the time, so I have a favorite dish at each! I will say that our sushi restaurant, Soy, is by far one of the best I’ve ever had. Neptunes is a beautiful restaurant right off the water. Da Jerk Shack is the newest one, serving chicken, pork, and veggies Jamiacan-style, with an Appleton Rum bar right next to it. And keep in mind, if something you want is not on the menu, it’s not a problem — we will get it for you. We try to instill in our team to always give the guest more, so the word “no” doesn’t exist for us. It’s all about options for our guests.

And what’s one activity that you think families really have to experience when they visit the resort?

Lucky: We’re a very, very big diving destination. Some diving sites are located right off the hotel, so our guests can see sharks, turtles, barracudas, parrot fish, and more when they dive here. We also have an amazing glass-bottom boat. Not everybody is into diving, so this way they still get to see these pristine waters. It’s really interesting to look down and see 15-to-20 feet down in the water, and the kids say, “Hey, look, there’s Nemo!”
