Chapter 1
I departed the States for our South Pole cruise on December 26 and arrived in Buenos Aires on the morning of the 27, Friday. The trip was smooth and uneventful. Just the way I like it. We did, however, have one little glitch. We had the biggest car in Buenos Aires and couldn’t fit ourselves and our luggage into the car. Kathy, the girl I am traveling with threatened to tie me to the roof. We really needed a bus for our meager wardrobes.
Friday we did all things Evita. The museum, cemetery, government house, etc. Friday night we went to a flamenco dinner and show. Before dinner was served the restaurant had a power outage so only the people who had ordered steak (which was cooked on a grill) got dinner. Since Kathy doesn’t eat steak, she got ice cream for dinner and dessert. All that and candlelight too! Talk about making lemonade out of lemons!
Saturday morning’s tour consisted of viewing historical buildings and a visit to La Boca. Saturday night we went to a beautiful Opera house to see Swan Lake. All in all, it was a great day, but the icing on the cake was a Clemson win over Ohio State. I couldn’t see the game but I could read the play by play. I have no idea where I will be for the finals and if I will get any WiFi for the finals. The game wasn’t over until 1:30 AM my time and I had to meet in the lobby at 3 AM to go to the airport for my charter flight to Ushuaia to board the Scenic Eclipse for our South Pole cruise. No going to bed for me that night.
More to come later.
